Those who can, do, those who can’t, teach,
So you know what, learn on your own.
I’d better practice what I preach,
Except I never preach at all.
You do you! We sit down and bitch
About the confusion in the world.
I’d like to test something; where’s the switch?
Now it’s dark, do I exist?
I’m not so sure, I thought I’d know.
If I don’t, what do I miss?
Do I come back when the light’s on?
There’s that temptation to assume
That I’m as here as I like.
I try things out and start anew
With no consequences in real life.
And now we’re at it, what is real? –
And then the doubt unfolds:
What if we’re someone else’s dream,
A hallucination gone wrong?
Are we made up or do we exist?,
Or is it a bit of both?
If it is, where does it split
And is it forever or not?
If I unexist on a bad day,
Can I snap back in when it’s gone?
What if I was imagined on a bad day?
How would I know for sure?
I’ve said enough for you to think
That I’m as strange as they come.
If you trade your nightmare for my dream,
I’ll sleep like a baby the whole night.
And when we sleep, am I here or not,
And are you there or not there?
And then you ask: what if we snog?
Oh, so you know that I exist?
I thought you’d see me one day.
I’ve been out, what did I miss?
An inconsequential pain.
Are we strangers in the mist
Or is the mist all there is, babe?
If we both have lips, is there a kiss
Or a geometrical shape?
